Director of Business Development - Western Canada
- 20+ Years Broadband Wireless Industry Experience
Brent’s career in wireless technology began very organically. After achieving a degree in General Business from Douglas College, he had an opportunity to work with school districts throughout North America gain access to affordable laptop computers for their students. As technology evolved, Brent enjoyed being able to go back and provide further access to the students by integrating wireless networks into the classrooms. At the time, this technology was just beginning to evolve; many of the first networks used Infrared receivers as this was before the IEEE released the 802.11 standard that dramatically changed the way we connect wirelessly. His career continued to as wireless technology changed. Brent had opportunities to help ISP’s deliver broadband speeds to entire geographic areas without access. Brent has extensive knowledge around broadband technology and is passionate about working with customers to solve communication challenges and seeing them through to success.
Brent has a long history of community volunteerism, and has worked extensively with the War Amps of Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society, and the Leukaemia Lymphoma Society. Both through offering counselling and support, as well as helping with fundraising efforts. He has trained and successfully completed 5 triathlons to date, and has participated in the Ride to Conquer Cancer three times. In his spare time he enjoys cycling, travelling the world, playing drums, and spending time with his wife and their four children.
Brent is excited to continue his journey of helping to bring communications solutions to Western Canada and is thrilled to join the MBSI team.
