Product Information
The MikroTik GESP is a gigabit Ethernet surge protector designed with an IP67-rated waterproof enclosure, making it ideal for safeguarding network equipment from lightning strikes and surges.
Consider a scenario where antennas are mounted on a mast and connected to ground-based switches. By installing GESP surge protectors at both ends of the Ethernet cables, you ensure enhanced protection for your equipment, particularly during adverse weather conditions such as thunderstorms.
It’s crucial to implement proper grounding; ensure that the grounding wire is securely attached to the rack mount, mast, or any grounded structure to divert surge currents effectively. For optimal performance and protection, it is highly recommended to employ surge protection at both terminations of extended cable runs.
Here’s what a typical use case would be like: You have a mast with some antennas. And some switches on the ground. Put the GESP surge protectors on each end. They come sealed inside a new and improved IP67 weatherproof enclosure. Your antennas are now safe during a lightning storm.
Don’t forget about the grounding wire! Secure it to the rack mount, mast, or any other grounded structure. For maximum protection, you should use a surge protector on both ends of long cables.
